Rights of Privacy & Anonymity

Humanity desires connection, our lives are enriched by connecting with others. How we connect with others is no simple task, it requires time, trust, exposure to external situations and categorization into how the individual compliments or enriches your growth through life.

Connection starts with anonymity, then pieces of information are revealed to each other, and based on how the other treats this information, trust grows which may deepen into acquaintance or friendships. We do not typically walk into a room state our name loudly for all to know.

All interactions between humanity start anonymous, and choose to shed their anonymity at the appropriate time. This is such an important part of our humanity that it is protected in ICCPR and reflected in the report of the Special Rapporteur, David Kaye to United Nations:

States should promote strong encryption and anonymity. National laws should recognize that individuals are free to protect the privacy of their digital communications by using encryption technology and tools that allow anonymity online... (encryption and anonymity) facilitate and often enable the rights to freedom of opinion and expression.

States should refrain from making the identification of users a condition for access to digital communications and online services

United Nations General Assembly: Special Rapporteur on the promotion & protection of the right to freedom of opinion and expression -- David Kaye 2015

Anonymity is the building block of the free and open internet, yet it does not mean you should walk alone. When playing a game in an online world an avatar is created, and the avatar interacts in that world on your behalf. While it is possible to interact with the world without an avatar, such interactions are limited and the avatar is necessary to immerse all senses for full discovery and exploration.

Identity & Access Management

Access & Authentication are Identity

Within the World Wide Web it is normal to have areas that require authentication to access. Some identifier is provided (a Digital Identity for the scope of influence of the site) and a password. It does not matter if you use Single Sign On (SSO) or Passkeys or Asymmetric Key Pairs, it is still a password sent to the server for authentication albeit called by different names.

Access is given to the Digital Identity, as determined by the authorization associated with the authentication, or Digital Identity.

A machine could do this process on your behalf, and the server would be none the wiser, in fact just 2.8% of all Digital Identity are human

Identity & Access Management

Identity Access Management is the term the industry uses to refer to authentication & authorization. A (de)centralised or sometimes called federated approach such as Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) or OpenFGA often underpins IAM to provide detailed authorization information.

Unfortunately IAM has never been secure, or a wise idea, as large centralized stores of information are prime targets for hackers. In 2014 the IAM of Target was hacked and a decade later 2024 U.S. Treasury was hacked in a similar way

Many IAM systems still store passwords in plain text Microsoft Edge by design, Meta from 2012 until 2019, Apple, Snapchat, Instagram, Roblox - 184 million plain text passwords

Digital Identity is broken, because it is built on a top-down, trust dependent communication structure. Access is guarded by trusting a single (de)centralized IAM and hope that the 2.8% of human identity accounts, have been configured for and managed correctly; while hoping that the authentication tagged as human is actually a human when accessing the IAM.

It is logical, that Governments in seeking a universal centralized Digital Identity would reach for biometrics as a safeguard that a human could be accessing via the human IAM account. Biometrics are not secure, and machines can extract and inject them into the process on your behalf.

Know Your Customer (KYC) is proof of who you are, where you go, what you think about, religion and geopolitics & who you communicate with. Proof of human (biometrics linked Digital Identity) is snake oil

-- Paul Walsh, Online safety & privacy expert (fraud, espionage, phishing)

KYC is simply an information store of a Governments Digital Identity, and at this time is heavily dependent on Biometrics and mobile phones.

Biometrics when associated with a Digital Identity void any and all anonymity and privacy, as such per the ICCPR, their use for multi-domain or as a universal identifier could be observed as a breach of the ICCPR.

why not digital identity

Digital Identity relies on Trust Models that are (de)centralized and can temporarily assume control of any Digital Identity within their purview as necessary.

CyberSpace requires something native to its environment to appropriately interact with it, Digital Identity, however is not native to CyberSpace, and exists in the realm of (de)centralized governance, political systems, and legislation. In fact, Digital Identity is conned as a method of building cyberpower: “the ability to use cyberspace to create advantages and influence events in all the operational environments and across the instruments of power.” {see From Cyberspace to Cyberpower -- Daniel T. Kuehl}

Further clarity on Digital Identity not being for CyberSpace is seen by Meta shadow-lobbying in excess of US$2.0 billion for Governments to use age verification and Digital Identity to collect metadata on people

knowing eezy

In 2021 the dead internet theory was discussed (pre Ai era), that the future internet will be largely driven by autonomous bots rather than humanity. in 2024 nearly 50% of internet traffic was automated, and 38% of human made websites from 2013 no longer exist, and nearly 1,000 news sites are run entirely by bots.

If IAM statistics are a real measure, then the 2.8% human Digital Identity of IAM accounts hints at a future where humanity may have difficulty locating other humans, especially as humans are only successful at detecting Ai generated text 45.7% of the time.

EEZY changes all of this!

The nexus of EEZY

EEZY the acronym is: Ego < Envoy < DeniZen < You

You: are the (wo)man who animates/gives life or energy for the computer to function, without you there is nothing else. You stand at the top of the hierarchy and are the authority on your privacy. You may own your data as EEZY is infused with Renitent.

DeniZen: “something that is native to a particular environment”. It is your Digital Self (similar to an avatar albeit more significantly advanced and integrated into CyverSpace). Your Digital Self is an essential part of Renitent and protects while exploring CyverSpace.

Envoy: No (wo)man is an island. An Envoy is always associated with a single community. The community may be entangled with a legal framework, or exist in CyverSpace exclusively. i.e. Japanese Yen ¥ (円) may entangle UN Treaties and Japanese Legal Framework against the Envoy.

Ego: Exists within the scope of a Renitent App. Every app has a unique ego associated with it, and if the app allows multiple personas then multiple egos from the same envoy may exist.

A simple way to understand the dynamic between them is:

You animate your DeniZen (Digital Self) who is natively naked in CyverSpace which selects a suitable Envoy as clothing culturally acceptable for entanglement against specific legal frameworks with Egos as expressions to Renitent Apps.

Hierarchy

An action taken in a Renitent App follows the hierarchy, You instruct, DeniZen selects an envoy, and ego performs the action, a complete nexus. However, a unique concept of EEZY is this nexus is only one way.

It is not possible, to link an ego to an envoy or an envoy to a DeniZen or a DeniZen to you. Indeed you are the only one who can know the 21 character alphanumeric strings for each EEZY in DeniZen, envoy, ego interaction.

Privacy

Privacy is the power to selectively reveal oneself to the world

We must defend our own privacy if we expect to have any

-- Cypherpunk manifesto - Eric Hughes 1993

  • EEZY is the ability of the right to privacy
  • EEZY is distributed by nature, it has no (de)centralized location to hack
  • DeniZen, Envoy, Ego all use the same structural EEZY, 21 alphanumeric characters
  • 20,000,000,000,000,000 EEZY need to be generated before a 50% chance of collision occurs
  • It is not possible to guess the next EEZY as their generation is totally random & can be done from any computer
  • Renitent infuses EEZY, all of its benefits are granted to EEZY
  • As you of mankind are using EEZY, there is no need to track a GPS location unlike Decentralized Identity Foundation (DIF) does and requires i.e. Microsoft Entra.

Some will argue: “you don’t need privacy if you have nothing to hide”.

Arguing that you do not care about the right to privacy because you have nothing to hide is no different than saying you do not care about free speech because you have nothing to say

-- Edward Snowden

the future is now
  • It is not possible to use EEZY via Ai, servers, or machine processes; EEZY always needs you to initiate a responsible action to be undertaken
  • EEZY starts anonymous, just as we do when interacting with humanity, yet in its anonymity EEZY provides continual verification of proof of humanity
  • EEZY removes the need for (de)centralized IAM for humanity in its entirety
  • EEZY can work with PassKeys, for Renitent Apps if desired, the PassKey never leaves the device & does not need a second device for metadata tracking as WWW based domains do
  • It is reasonable to aim for target zero fraud with EEZY

There is no need for assumptive Data Sovereignty with EEZY, most Governments assume entry point of data into the WWW matches the Sovereignty of the data. VPN providers are requested to expose the origin to assist with this. Your Envoy is the entanglement point. Thus if Japanese Yen ¥ (円) was used by your community, Japanese Data Sovereignty might apply to the data irrespective of which physical access point globally is used for the data.

There is no technical reason that would prevent Governments & Companies from interacting with EEZY via Renitent Apps, and in doing so automatically respect your privacy while fulfilling their UN treaty obligations such as those of ICCPR. IAM style Digital Identity is unable to offer such assurances
